Shelving with Style

metal shelving.jpg

If you haven't logged onto Re -Found Objects yet, then you're in for a real New Year treat. In November 2003 they set up a small work shop in a filling station in Corbridge, this grew into a mail order business in May 2004. Today, they're a unique site offering lots of Re-stored, Re-cycled and Re-vitalised products for your home and garden. This decorative shelving is 100cm long and costs £19.50. But what I really want are their vibrant paper balls and bells from £3.50, their size and cheerfullness would make you smile even on this very chillly day.

Apples Galore

apple rack.jpg

Our friends have just moved to a house with an apple tree, so are now steeped in apple and chilli jam and chutney. This 10 drawer apple rack from Plantstuff for £195 would make a perfect gift. Maybe with this volume of apples, I can dream about future cider.

Bright Trugs

crocus trugs.jpg

These cheerful flexi trugs are almost too good for the garden. Then again it is Autumn and any colour in the garden is appreciated. In fact Crocus have lots of ideas for this time of year including a leaf vacuum cleaner and shredders. But splash out a mere £8.99 and gathering the leaves will be much more colourful and fun.

Hippo Bags

hippo skip bag.jpg

If like me you've found hiring a skip an expensive and painful chore, then get one of these Hippo skip bags from that offbeat diy store Wickes. It costs 11.89 and is 1.5 cubic yards in size, at least the size of a bath judging by the picture. But don't forget if you're throwing out something that could be used and collected by someone else, then advertise it on Freecycle. As Bob the Builder says 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle'.

Smart Storage

storage.jpg

I don't know about you but the amount of recycling our family can produce in a week is pretty staggering. So this wheelie bin/recycling box store will be pretty useful if you don't have a utility room for all your recycling stuff. Storage is an unglamorous but essential purchase and The Garden Factory has been a new venture into the world of garden storage for me. This site is worth a browse if only to see their dog ramps - a ' hardwearing folding wooden ramp, perfect for giving your pet easy access to the car, house door or anywhere he might be having trouble getting to'. To a non-dog owner, this was and is a revelation.

Jazzing up your wheelie bin

Wheeli bin 2.jpg

I hate the sight of big brown or green wheelie bins, so it makes sense to cover them up and make them as aesthetically pleasing as is possible. When I considered disguising ours about a year ago, I remember there being just one sort of hedge design you could select. So I didn't bother.

Now I have to give my bins a make-over because there are some cracking designs at to choose from at wheelie bin art , to choose from. Jazzy sunflowers, vibrant poppies and purple tulips swaying in the breeze. The dual set costs "24.95 and are 100% waterproof, washable and uv fadeproof.
