Paradise Parasols

HEALS PARASOL.jpg

Heals have got a stunning range of outdoor furniture for summer, including this Paradis parasol for £125. It measures 180cm, has a steel frame and the cotton parasol also comes in brown. While you're there take a look at their galvanised love seats, very modern and it would make a fantastic wedding gift.

Pretty Shady

gazebo.jpg

Well this steel Penbury gazebo has definate attitude and presence. It costs £105.99 and is from that massive online supermarket Amazon, who also have a lot of offers on garden tools right now. It can be a bit overwhelming when your search brings up thousands of possible entries, but then again virtual shopping is a lot faster and cheaper than traipsing the high street -so log on.

Soft Screenings

willow screen.jpg

If you're in need of a bit of privacy, then this willow screening from Gone Gardening is not a bad place to start. It comes in 3 by 1/ 2 metre panels and is reduced from £32.99 to £24.99. They also have some finely woven reed and bamboo screens, which are also on sale. In fact it's the most useful looking gardening sale I've seen in a while, you may find there are a number of things you actually need.

Swish Seating

stacking chairs.jpg

Aren't these Moreton stacking chairs gorgeous? Not quite so lovely a price of £260 from £279.96 at the Garden Furniture Centre. But then you are getting a golden teak or dark cappucino seat made from 'weatherproof HULARO synthetic fibre, which is extremely durable and colourfast, highly resistant to UV high and low temperatures and easy to clean.' Take a look at this high-end site, if only to see what some people will be purchasing this summer. I quite fancy one of their triangular sail shades, if anyone is listening?

Shady Sails

shade sail forsyht4.jpg

The idea of these vibrant garden sails really appeals to me . They'll keep me from going a mottled red colour and be aesthetically pleasing to live with. These Coolaroo shade sails would dramatically change the look and feel of our garden. Even better, the whole range is currently reduced, so prices start from £39.95. I do love a bargain. You can get every size and colour at the fairly posh Forsyth4 site. Now just a few months to wait for the sunshine to appear.

Rosey Shade

gazeboo.jpg

If a 50k extension is out the question then how about spending £250 on a new rose filled room in the garden. This nylon Rose Maroc Gazebo keeps popping up everywhere I look. The 13' hexagon has four zipper 'entries' and comes with a groundsheet, pegs and guy ropes and apparently only takes 30 mins to erect. You may have already guessed it's available from the ever floral Cath Kidson which means you'll be able to get matching knickers as well.

Style for Less and Less

lounger.jpg

Well if the weather forecasters have got it right, then it's still worth buying that long-intended garden furniture. This pvc sun lounger was £19.99 and is now £9.99 from Cargo Home Shop . It comes in graphite, blue or red and can be co-ordinated with this Hawain inspired parasol.

parasol.jpg

This was £39.99 and is now £19.99, Cargo really do have some great summer reductions that will turn your garden from a wilderness in to a sanctuary.

Chic on the Beach

pareasil the seaside co.jpg

Well if you want to look stylish on the beach, then order this gorgeous pink/turquoise parasol from the The Seaside Company . It has delicate flowers and hanging beads on the parasol and comes with a complimentary matching beach mat. All of this for £25 and I haven't even began to talk about their fabulous wind breaks. Having just been to Southend for the day, I am certain, that with this I definately would stand out from the crowd.

Sun Escapes

sun tent urchin.jpg

If you're off abroad this May bank holiday, then don't forget to bring this cute sun tent with you. This big-top style play tent costs £29.99, provides factor 50 UV protection, is lightweight and can be assembled in minutes. It's great for imaginative play in the garden or for providing respite from the midday sun whilst on the beach. While you're at the Urchin site take a look at their funky swim gear and garden games and then download their free party invites to your summer beach party.

Milletts just got Groovy

Cath Kidson tent.jpg

I never thought I would darken the doors of a Millets shop again as Ross has declared (on more than one occassion) that he doesn't do camping. But how anyone resist taking a peek at this
Cath Kidston tent
? It costs £69.99 is fire retardant, has pre-attached guylines and can sleep 3 people. I'm sure he will find it too floral, so I will probably settle on buying one of their fantastically titled Kag in a bag . The kagoul has been reborn in a range of cheeky spots and stripes for a mere £19.99 (a current saving of £5 on the original price). If you're feeling really brave you could buy the Cath Kidson poncho, great for festivals as no-one will miss you in it! Well done Milletts.

Sailing by

shade_sail_deck10_s.jpg Although they are Australian (I think) these remind me of eating out in narrow Italian streets. Colaroo shade sails from Forsyth4 (from £39.95) are an inexpensive and stylish way of creating a shady corner. You do have to pay out extra for fixing accessories though, and, unless you have fortuitously positioned trees, poles to attach them to.

Ombra for hombres

ensombra.jpg You can't get much cooler (in a white minimal kind of way) than this folding Ensombra parasol from Valencian design company Gandia Blasco, whose output is almost exclusively white and minimal and best seen on terraces overlooking an azure sea.

Shady and Lacy

Coran parasol.jpg

Chris Kabels' sun parasol, like many of the outdoor goods at the Conran shop is beautifully made and not exactly cheap. But then, where else would you get a vivid green plastic canopy' which is designed to give the user the illusion of 'sitting beneath a tree'. Ok, so this dappled light is going to cost you £335 (this does not include the base) and has to be taken indoors when not in use so practicality is questionable here, but it reminds me of our Tord Boonjte garland light, which when I gaze at it, never fails to make me smile.
