Lighting Up

evasolooillampinwhite.jpg

Should we ever get to eat outdoors again, then these Eva Solo oil lamps, would make a stylish table light. They cost £32.99 each and have a stainless steel top which can be removed to refill with oil. It's worth browsing Amaroni as they have quite an eclectic selection of products for everyone and everywhere in your home.

Trading Barn Lights

barn lamp 2.jpg

I'm not surprisd that this Barn lamp is on the Best Sellers list at The Garden Trading company. This £26.50 light is based on lamps that were used on outbuildings and stables to facilitate checking on animals at night or early morning tack. It comes in a range of colours and the indoor or outdoor versions are CE approved and are IP rated. While you're there check out the votive lights and hooks - all practical and well designed.

Coude Floor Lamps

coude3.JPGInspired by both the French Colonial Era and modern European style Studio Annam's handmade wooden furniture is the perfect mix of old-school charm and modern quirkiness. These Coude Floor lamps are typical of their "classic Oriental style" which seemlessly intertwines elements of Colonial Vietnam whilst at the same time retaining, like their furniture, a modern edge. (Price to be confirmed)

Solar Lighting

lights woolies.jpg

I still get a small thrill when our garden lights pop on. So with all this sun around at the moment, log onto your local Woolies site and bag these elegant solar lights. These steely 10 are reduced from £79.99 to £39.99, the latter making more sense. As it's a £4.95 delivery charge for as much as you like, then look at this fun grass print table reduced from £29.99 to £14.99 - what we would lovingly refer to as a Clare table.

Next to Nothing

line light next.jpg

I have to confess to not really giving Next much thought when it comes to the great outdoors. So was pleasantly surprised by their modern range of goodies. These 40 Flower Line lights are 10 metres light and have long life non-replaceable micro bulbs. For £20 these lights can happily sit in or outdoors. I also like the look of their blossom lighting, red floral picnic ware and stripy parasols. Throw in a lawn mower and a barbecue and you're pretty set to decamp outdoors for the summer.

Glow Sticks

ETree.jpg
One of my favourite things is being able to walk in to an exhibition and touch things! And at 100%east I fell in love with these ETrees by Nimbel Critter. Simple, yet beautiful, these creations use 'electroluminescent technology' and function as interactive glowing scultpures, which you can bend and twist to your hearts content.

Available for both the home and garden in a range of colours, for pricing information and delivery times contact info@nimblecritters.co.uk. Check out the 'news' section of their website for some enchanting videos of the ETree in action.

Blooming Marvellous

bloom3 aram 2.jpg

What a clever idea from the witty Aram store, a flowerpot which doubles as a light. The size of the Bloom pot makes it suitable not only for flowers and plants, but you could also fill it with ice for that summer party. It's made of tough plastic and has two 11W energy-saving light bulbs that can be connected to both indoor and outdoor lighting systems. You need to email the store to find out the price, why don't they put them online! A bit early to mention it would also be the perfect pot for your Christmas tree.

Iota is visually a refreshing and contemporary site, with some unusual and stunning water features, planters and outdoor art. This Stainless Steel sculpture is inset with transparent coloured acrylic panels and for £500 (per column) would add some instant colour and magic to your garden. Iota also have really vibrant orange planters and should your garden be a tad on the small side, fantastic sheets of polished stainless steel which will immmediately double it's size - for £95 that's a great size solution.

Balls that glow in the dark

britisheco.jpg

Forget your standard yellow tinged solar lights which you spike into the ground - which we have. Illuminate your garden border or table with these gorgeous globes, available in red, green, amber, blue or white. There's no wiring, they are solar powered by an energy-saving LED unit and cost £22 per globe.

These lights are one of many great and green products featured on Nick Pringles British eco site. You could also add a solar powered water fountain, chicken shed or organic rooster manure to your shopping basket. If greens your thing, then browse their Green experiences which cover a range of green, natural, country, heritage and outdoor pursuits.

A rainbow for your garden

Sloar magiglobe.jpg

Greenfingers is for all you serious gardeners out there. It has everything you need to purchase and know about the garden. Not only does it have a whole tips and queries section, you can also post your own questions and take part in their gardening club. Being shallow I will purchase their Solar Magiglobe and for £39.00 will watch the colours of the rainbow for the next 12 hours. The globe features an integral solar panel and can be sat on the table using its stand, spiked into the ground or left to float in your pond.

Made In Britain

paraffin_lamps.jpg
These are rather special paraffin lamps as they are based on the original miners lamps and are actually made in Wales. Rural Living doesn't have a huge amount of products on its site, but it does have a strong sense of real people in the country feel to it. Read the 'Feature' page, this gives you a good indication of the tone of the site and an introduction to Jessie the Springer Spaniel. Anyhow, they've just opened their first shop near Guildford where it would definately be worth popping into. Check out their triangular bird box kit - a great gift for a twitcher.
