Birdballs

Birdball_M.jpg

So far my shabby straw bird box has attracted zero interest from our feathered friends. But how could they resist this contemporary and stylish terracotta birdball for £29.95 at the Worm who turned website. If that doesn't appeal to them, then how about an outdoor wreath made from apples or a metal feeder which you skewer fruit to - lovely site and lots of inspirational Christmas ideas.

These steely 10 are reduced from £79.99 to £39.99, the latter making more sense. Persian Tumblers and 10% off offer

damask tumblers.jpg

Wallace Sacks Ltd. are not really an outdoor company, but they do have these rather beautiful frosted glass tumblers on sale right now, from £25 to £12.50 for 6. Plus they have a special offer for housebible readers - new customers get 10% off their first purchases, so really it's a bargain I had to tell you about. So get outside and christen your new Perisan inspired drinking vessels with a mint tea, (or preferably a mint julep!)

Daisy or Delight?

Pedlers plate.jpg

These Jackie Shapiro picnic plates are almost too pretty to eat off, I'd be tempted to hang them on the wall and to ditch the picnic idea. They come in 2 designs, are made from melamine, are dishwasher proof and are currently reduced from £9.95 to £7.95 at Pedlars . A great start to ensuring you have a stylish picnic set.

Wonderful Sundaes

sundae dishes.jpg

I've got a real thing about ice-cream at the moment and these vibrant Sundae dishes would add a special magic touch for the kids and me. They cost £12.99 for 4 from Urchin and what's best of all is they are plastic. They also currently have £10 off their bright red chip and dip bowl - now all I need is the sun to come out to justify my shopping.

Juicy Orange

picnic.jpg

This fantastic weather demands lots of bbq's and picnics outside. I think my cheese sarnie would taste even better when eaten off this vibrant orange picnic ware set. It's very resonably priced with pieces from £2-7 from good old John Lewis. As their summer sale is on right now, you might prefer their reduced Ella Doran set previously blogged on housebible here - either way - get outside and eat up the sunshine.

Pretty hot or cold

graham 7 green thermos.jpg

These cherry blossom thermos flasks will make you the envy of all other festival or camper goers this Summer. It costs £10.95 and holds 1.2 litres of hot steamy coffee or a chilled strawberry daiquiri cocktail. Why do chrome when you can get completely flowered up at Graham & Green ? A truly delicious site, which screams 'Buy me' a bit too loudly.

Nibbles at Next

next bowls.jpg

It's too hot to cook and judging by the kids at nursery today - too hot to eat. So think nibbles and order these 4 attractive teardrop dishes for £7.99 from Next . While online, take a peek a their outdoor lighting section and very stylish planters. Can't bear the fact that they stamp their logo on so many of their products but these look tasteful and logo free.

Tray bien

tray.jpg These trays are just the thing for carrying out your antipasti when you're dining alfresco. They have four separate removable dishes. At the moment you can only view them on ILVA's Danish site, but they'll be available in their UK stores (in Thurrock and Manchester) when they open in late July for around £32.

Jazz up your table with Tchibo

tablecloth.jpg

Tchibo sounds like a Japanese car or drink to me, but don't let the name put you off. They're an international firm who launched here in 1991 with their cafe services to hotels and big businesses, after all they have been caffeine specialists for over 50 years. Now they make for serious browsing for all us home shoppers. This stripy tablecloth is typical of their products, it costs £5.99 and comes with matching table mats (£2.99 for 4) and serviettes.

Every wednesday they have a new theme and new host of bargains, you even get Sarah Beeney's face peering at you in the baby section. Normally I would avoid these type of sites, but at that price I'll be shopping.

Picnic in Style

ella doran plate john lewis.jpg

John Lewis is where you can find these gorgeous Ella Doran blossom picnic plates. They cost £6 each and can be complimented with matching bowls and tumblers. If a little too fussy for you, then they have some plain but vibrant aqua blue picnic plates and cups and a cheeky retro diasy number too. Time to recycle those tatty plain plastic ones you've had for something a litte more stylish. I'm sure your food will taste better eating off these too.

Feeling groovy

situ-outside-01.jpg I would choose this minimal aluminium Groove outdoor furniture by artist Jennifer Newman to provide a stark contrast to my unruly wilderness of a garden. Apart from the groove, the best thing about it is that Jennifer will have it powder coated in any colour you choose. From £800 for a table.

Flowers for thought

0.jpgbeaker.jpg
I used to wonder why stuff with naff patterns cost less than nice uncomplicated plain stuff when it surely must cost more to produce. Habitat must have had the same thought in pricing this lovely Melamine dinnerware. Patterned Nancy plates cost £2.50 – 50p more than the plain version, beakers a whacking £1.25 compared with just £1 for plain ones. But think what you'll save on food. A little will go a long way.

Eat and heat

direct designs terrace grill.jpg Who needs environmentally hostile outdoor heaters? I plan to spend chilly evenings sitting round a brazier on which the man of the house has previously grilled something succulent. This Direct Designs terrace grill from Forsyth4 (£99.99) will do the business.
A cheap and funky alternative is this pink mini bucket barbecue from Debenhams for just £20.
