Dinner in a bucket

bucket bbq.jpg

I'm the last person to ask advice about bbq's having never done the outdoor cooking thing despite owning two! But I do like the idea of this bucket one from Urchin for 21.99. Maybe I like the image too, you know camper vans and al fresco living - perhaps this will be the year we finally get our shiny bbq out of it's wrapping.

Red Hot Cooking

barbecue robert dyas.gif

Well if you're not sure if bbq's are your thing, then why not experiment with this cheeky little red barbecue reduced from £14.99 to £9.99 at Robert Dyas, a real bargain. Great range of well priced housey stuff on their site, which probably explains why they are opening 75 stores over the next 3 years. So maybe you can bag yourself a nifty bbq and job at the same time and celebrate with some sizzling sausages.

Smokey Joe

bbq from deal time.jpg It's not exactly bbq weather, but should the sun make an appearance then you need to be ready. This Weber Smokey Joe Gold Grill is a portable kettle grill , with a lid & bowl made from heavy -gauge steel with porcelain enamel to prevent rusting. It costs £60 and can be sourced from DealTime which also provides 5 reviews of the item as well as a price comparison check. The site has a seriously massive selection of appliances, hand and power tools - over 1,300 items popped up in the sheds and storage section! All a bit overwhelming, but also a good overview.

Eat and heat

direct designs terrace grill.jpg Who needs environmentally hostile outdoor heaters? I plan to spend chilly evenings sitting round a brazier on which the man of the house has previously grilled something succulent. This Direct Designs terrace grill from Forsyth4 (£99.99) will do the business.
A cheap and funky alternative is this pink mini bucket barbecue from Debenhams for just £20.

B & Q's hot summer purchases

06_0000003455654_ts1_1_x.jpg
All the big stores have pulled out the stops this summer - maybe they know we're in for a scorcher after such a miserable winter. Anyhow first stop is B & Q,which once you've loaded up with your essential lawn mower, shears, plants, and peat free compost, you can now browse for pure desire objects. This Memphis Retro style Gas Barbecue is top of my shopping list. Not only will it match my Bright red Smeg fridge but it also looks a bit like a fat version of the Angel of the North -sculpture and a cooking vessel in one. It costs £149.98 and also comes in cream, pink and blue.
