Playful Playsheds

playshed_interior_2.jpg

To you it's just a shed but to those special little people in your life it'll be a magnificent fortress decked out with winding turrets, drawstring bridges, dragons and - well, you get the picture. Though simple in its basic design, Velocity's playsheds provides youngsters with a fun and inspiring way to wile away the coming summer. You'll need a 4' x 8' space to spare in your garden and will have to assemble it yourself. But the pieces come fully customised with your choice of finishes, floor tiles and outdoor/indoor panels which definately beats dad's boring old shed. (£2995)

Seeing Double

helix iotagarden.jpg

I could spend hours staring at this mesmerising double helix sculpture from Iota Garden. It's no dainty effort standing at more than 10 foot high and costing a reasonable £550. So if you've had a bonus or been left some money, then this will provide a lifetime of pleasure watching the flourescent orange paddles catch the sun. Saying that a drop of rain wouldn't go amiss right now, especially as we've just thrown down some lawn seed - I'll start praying now.

Coude Floor Lamps

coude3.JPGInspired by both the French Colonial Era and modern European style Studio Annam's handmade wooden furniture is the perfect mix of old-school charm and modern quirkiness. These Coude Floor lamps are typical of their "classic Oriental style" which seemlessly intertwines elements of Colonial Vietnam whilst at the same time retaining, like their furniture, a modern edge. (Price to be confirmed)

Apple Feeders

apple_house.jpg

At last I've found a replacement apple house to show you. What's more it's from that honest looking man who greets you as you log onto the Baileys site. It's £12.50 and 100% recycled - this site makes me want to ditch the plastic and get wooden. Fantastic site.

Paper Potters

paper potter thompson morgan.jpg

I was trying to find this nifty apple bird feeder which Thompson - Morgan stock, but the site defied me. So instead you get this equally enchanting and practical seedling pot maker. It's a great way to recycle your paper and has the added benefit of being biodegradable once placed in the soil. Costs £11.99 for a lifetime of pot making. Not the niftiest title for a gardening site which has a serious seed collection and are holding their 14th open day in Ipswich on July 28th & 29th. Looks like you'll see some good floral action there.

Soleil stripes

Fermob.jpg
The weather-resistant fabric for this jolie Dune chair is made by Toiles du Soleil, a former espadrille factory in rural French Catalonia, who also produce gorgeous hardwearing deckchair-type canvas. The steel-framed chair itself, designed by Pascal Mourgue is available from the Conran shop for £130. There's a tasty matching lounger (£550) too.

Solar Lighting

lights woolies.jpg

I still get a small thrill when our garden lights pop on. So with all this sun around at the moment, log onto your local Woolies site and bag these elegant solar lights. These steely 10 are reduced from £79.99 to £39.99, the latter making more sense. As it's a £4.95 delivery charge for as much as you like, then look at this fun grass print table reduced from £29.99 to £14.99 - what we would lovingly refer to as a Clare table.

ELC Goes Outdoors

tools kids elc.jpg

ELC has funked up and shed it's slightly worthy air for a more caring, sharing one. This Pink rake and hoe trolley comes with a hoe, trowel, 2 rakes, dibber and watering can. Plus a rather fetching trolley to hold the gardening tools - shames my current bucket holder. It costs £10 and is aimed 3-8 year olds, but most ages would muck in where water and mud are present. Lots of Easter items also on sale - could make an alternative gift to chocolate.

Next to Nothing

line light next.jpg

I have to confess to not really giving Next much thought when it comes to the great outdoors. So was pleasantly surprised by their modern range of goodies. These 40 Flower Line lights are 10 metres light and have long life non-replaceable micro bulbs. For £20 these lights can happily sit in or outdoors. I also like the look of their blossom lighting, red floral picnic ware and stripy parasols. Throw in a lawn mower and a barbecue and you're pretty set to decamp outdoors for the summer.

'Acacia Dealbata'

crocus plant.jpg

My mom's just been to stay armed with a pair of secateurs, so now the garden is in need of some new foliage. That's where Crocus comes into play, straight forward hand held gardening advice for a novice like me. They've thoughtfully put together an April planting section which includes this fluffy yellow Mimosa and a clear guide as to how to aid it's survival. A 3 litre pot costs £13.95, do I trust myself to take on this new charge?
