Guests Galore

muji bed.jpg

If you've suddenly got an extra guest for Christmas then I'd recommend buying this grey charcoal flannel sofa bed from Muji for £495. Mine has seen many bodies sleep and bounce on it, but still it remains fairly presentable and relatively sane. Throw in a vibrant red acrylic Christmas tree, some bath crayons and a city in a bag and youv'e been well and truly mujied. Autumn Bedrooms

monsoon duvet.jpg

For romantic and very feminine bed linen head to Monsoon for this Kimono duvet cover. This cotton sateen creation has a detailed oriental embroidered design of duck egg and taupe and costs a reasonable £65 for the double cover. To finish off your bedroom take a look at their inspired lighting section and purple accessories.

Snuggle Up

heals throw.jpg

Ok so a big fluffy Arctic throw from Heals is the last thing on your mind right now. But as it's currently reduced from £170 to £85, this could be a shrewd Winter investment. I got given a similar one for a wedding present and have had nearly five years of toasty bed times and bear games. Highly recomended.

Customised Beds

aspen-bed_jpg.jpg

Feather & Black also incorporates the Iron Bed Company, so you can expect a great selection of beds and some sumptious linen. This Aspen bed is different in that you can chose the fabric it is upholstered in and it's currently reduced from £975 to £925 for a double. Lots of March bargains to be had as well as some beautifully designed childrens furniture and duvets -might motivate me to have a much needed Spring clean.

Sleep like a baby

mattressman.jpg

I've just realised that our mattress is over ten years old, so it's time to head to the mattress man. Prepare to be dazzled with over 2,000 to chose from - I feel a mattress speciality degree coming on. They've got a great range of brand names and will deliver the next day - handy if yours happens to go up in flames.

20% off Kas Bedlinen

Kas.jpg

Kas is an Australian design brand, whose rich and luxurious bed linen and duvets are now available at Wallace Sacks, and to celebrate this they are offering 20% off the range. You can see the full range of bedlinen here, but we particularly liked this Sienna range of flowing leaves in embroidery and applique on cotton.

And whilst you're at it, Wallace Sacks are offering housebible readers 50% off their Egyptian Cotton Sheets if you enter the promo code ECB into the checkout basket. So no excuses now not to snuggle up in that "hotel feeling" bed.

Bold Winter blankets & throws

designers guild.jpg

If you're thinking fabrics then your first stop has to be the Designers Guild . They're not afraid of colour, contrast or in-your-face bold designs. This Sarafan Peony throw costs £100, so not one for lovers of neutral colours or cheap bedding.

Secret dreams

ikea bed.jpg

Apart from being easy on the eye; looking slightly like a simplified sleigh-bed, sturdy, and with pleasing details, such as the cut outs at the feet... this bed frame has a little something extra. The Leksvic double size is priced at £170, and comes with an inbuilt magazine rack or (as I prefer to think of it) 'secret' hiding place. I think this is such a great idea from Ikea, both novel and practical.

Snug as a bug in a rug

Bedsocks_hotwaterbottle_352.jpg

How cute is this hotwater jar (I’m Irish!) and bed socks set from Plumo? I feel all cosy just looking at it. The socks are priced at £18, the jar is £20, and delivery is £4.50, you can buy the items separately if you like, but I think this little set would make the best Christmas prezzie ever. Although I admit I am slightly biased, since three of my favorite things are all there - pink, sparkles and warmth – but really, what more do you need on a frosty winters eve?

Roll Over

ROLIG ARMCHAIR.jpg
It's a constant love/hate relationship I have with Ikea. Just when I think Ill never buy anything from there again, it goes and surprises me with this practical and stylish design - a £45 Rolig armchair. I can imagine grabbing a book and just crashing into it, head first, it won't really matter!

Beds and Cakes

laura ashley bed.jpg

I recently went into Laura Ashely's and was pleasantly surprised at how very rustic and flouncy they'd become. Once you've got past the twee clothes, you'll love this classic bed with a beautiful fleur de lis design, hand cast in metal and complete with a hand tufted mattress. It costs £412.50 and takes approx. 7 weeks to deliver.

While you're feeling all floaty and whimsical, order this simple, yet elegant enamel cake stand for £15 and then get ready for tea, buns and bed. Sounds good to me.

Condom Pots

PROPHOscene.jpg

Admit it, occasionly you have been known to wild scrabbling under the bed, in the drawers or on the bathroom cabinet shelf - to find that random condom. Well for £14.95 this teat topped prophotot will banish those days forever. Not sure why it's called this, but then expect the unusual at Scabetti Designs.

Monsoon Shopping

monsoon throw.jpg

I've only recently become a bit of a Monsoon shopper and have yet to make it beyond their clothing sections. If you're thinking of making your bedroom a bit cosier for Autumn, then this pale blue embroidered Kimono throw for £150 will certainly add a touch of delicate comfort.

monsson frame.jpg

This £8 picture frame adds an elegant final touch. Now all I need is a cup of tea and a copy of Wuthering Heights.

Locker Boys & Girls

john lewis akrobat bedsiade.jpg

I find myself growing into John Lewis stores as I get older. I can spend ages in the basement (kids permitting) looking at all the wonderful kitchen gadgets I will never use. Now I will get on that escalator and finally make it to the other levels to see if this locker style bedside table is as good as it looks. Costs £80 and is part of a vibrant blue and red Akrobat range of 'young peoples' furniture - still feel that could be me!
