Hot toast

toast.jpg

Well toast have finally got both sides of their business buttered with their expansion into houses and homeware. They've kept to their style of simplicity and luxury, not cheap tat, these products will last and last. This cotton terry Anatolian towel measures 172 by 90 cm and costs £39. It's soft, yet heavy and will add a touch of glamour to your bathroom.

Muji makes life simple

muji bin.jpg

If you're having one of those declutter moments then head to Muji for some simple and well thought out storage solutions. I like this simple 28 litre bin because it takes up less space than it's circular neighbours and for £29.95 is no-nonsense and functional. They have some great storage solutions and contemporary beds, but it's the accessories which always catch my eye.

Habitat Refreshed

bathroom sink.jpg

I've always been a fan of Habitat but loathed their overcomplicated and indulgent website. So hoorrahh for their new simplified and easily navigated online presence. It's now a pleasure to seek out the likes of this bathroom sinc for £215, In fact they could do with more details about each product. As there is no Habitat in Leamington Spa, this lifeline to good and affordable design is an essential.

Autumn Bedrooms

monsoon duvet.jpg

For romantic and very feminine bed linen head to Monsoon for this Kimono duvet cover. This cotton sateen creation has a detailed oriental embroidered design of duck egg and taupe and costs a reasonable £65 for the double cover. To finish off your bedroom take a look at their inspired lighting section and purple accessories.

Curvy Shelving

wolloies shelves.jpg

Now these 3 oak veneer storage shelves could either look sylish or the cheap £20 they cost from one of my favourite mooch stores - Woolworths. I'd put them in a childs room for cd's, trinkets or special books. Worth a look and while you're at it, you could always recycle your old mobile and pick up some Halloween goodies.

DIY Kyoto

Watson.JPG
DIY Kyoto's "Wattson" is an ingenious device that lets you know when you're using little or too much energy in the home by glowing blue or red accordingly. This slick little gadget even displays how much you will be paying annually in pounds based on the way you are consuming energy at that very moment, driving home the message that environmentally friendly = cost effective. (£125 / Standard version)

AnglePoised

Giant lamp.jpg
Unlike Carole, I did manage to get down to 100% Design this year (what an event!) where I got to witness the might of Anglepoise's giant life size lamp first hand. It is seriously huge, guys. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a warehouse amount of space to play with so I think I'll just settle for the more traditionally sized table lamp instead. (Giant £1, 660 / Table £276.59)

Do Shop at Do-Shop

Dog cushion.jpgAt Do-Shop they've sourced some of the quirkiest finds from all over the globe that touch on the humourous and ever-so-slightly cheeky. So what if my flat isn't canine friendly? No one's going to object to Cha Cha Dog and friends being scattered about the place, right? (£45)

Wake up with Wakerly

Wakeley wallpaper.jpg
Erica Wakerly's wallpaper prints employ the type of graphic and geometric lines that call for a clean, unfussy setting. My favourite is this one called 'Horizontally' which comes in 7 different colourways. Simple, yet clever and quietly intriguing her numerous designs extend to fabric prints and illustrations too and can be found here. £45-£55 / 10 metre roll

Bloomin' Lovely

Heat wallpaper.jpgPlease excuse the cheesy post title but I can't tell you how excited I was when I stumbled upon this heat sensitive wallpaper by Shiyuan. A sure case of design imitating life, the stalks literally 'bloom' when your radiator heats up, disappearing again when it's switched off. It's unclear whether or not it's for sale as yet but we'll definately keep you posted. Be sure to check out their website for a full demonstration.

Go Modern

go modern sofa.jpg

Ok so having just moved to Leamington Spa, we can't actually afford this beautiful Florence Knoll 3 seater sofa. But I thought this would have lots of zeros attached to the price, but it costs £849 and comes in a range of sumptuous leather colours. Go Modern was set up by partners Tina Mahony & Simon Ingham to provide excellent quality designer furniture and accessories via the internet. It's a fantastic and refreshing site which is quite inspirational in it's choice of outstanding classic contemporary and new designers.
