Scandinavian Beauties

midcentury modern.jpg

For all you Scandinavian lovers, log onto Our show home and salivate at the beautifully crafted mid-century furniture and pieces. These Danish salt and pepper shakers hail from the 60’s and are made from wood with a green lacquer finish. The tallest is 10cm, the smallest 7.5cm, price - £64.00. You can make an appointment to visit their home and gawp or buy all their lovely wares. Or take yourself off to the Mid Century Modern show at De La Warr Pavilion at Bexhill on sea this Sunday from 11am -4pm. Ross is on a stag night on Saturday, I wonder what my chances will be of making it there!

Villeroy & Boch

villeroy and bosch.jpg

I get a real kick out of bargain hunting, so wouldn't miss this phenomenal sale at Villeroy & Boch. Until July 28th you can get 80% off selected tableware, 50% off boxed cutlery and up to 60% off selected ranges of stemware. This vibrant Beach Party tableware is reduced by 50%, if this is a tad too wild then they have some elegant white classic lines too. The factory shop is at 267 Merton Road, so you could always see your wares before you part with your money.

Inside Out

noodle lamp.jpg

These Noodle lamps are literally a breath of fresh air. They each take 4-6 weeks to make by hand. The shades are made by laminating fabric onto a pvc parchment, then hand rolling the edges. They vary both in size and price, ranging from 6 by 14cm and costing £50 to a dramatic 50cm by 23cm for £176 including postage. Given this persistant rain, they would certainly add some sunshine to our interior.

Snuggle Up

heals throw.jpg

Ok so a big fluffy Arctic throw from Heals is the last thing on your mind right now. But as it's currently reduced from £170 to £85, this could be a shrewd Winter investment. I got given a similar one for a wedding present and have had nearly five years of toasty bed times and bear games. Highly recomended.

Gothic Vessels

florentine watts.jpg

Watts Contemporaries have 130 years of design and architectural experience dating back to 1874. Better known for their churches and cathedrals, they also have some striking glassware and ceramics. These distinctive Florentine glasses are inspired by secular drinking vessels of the 15th Century and would certainly get your guests drinking and talking. This range starts from £13 and can be seen for real at this years Summer Fair from 17th -20th June at Excel in London.

Baking with style

stiletto tart server.jpg

The stiletto and the tart have joined forces to create this stainless steel stiletto tart server from Graham and Green complete with a magnetic removable heel for easy serving. Not exactly a die hard purchase, but is a brilliant piece of humorous design, and for just £15.75 is a lovely accessory to the modern women’s kitchen. Who knows? It might even encourage you to bake.

bulb_in_glass_brick-sm.jpg

This innovatively designed block lamp by Harri Koskinen is in my opinion, cool, contemporary and completely beautiful in its simplicity. Yes, it is just a bulb in a glass brick(why didn’t I think of that?) but looks brilliant, and will definitely give any room some edge.Get it now from skandium.com from £69.00, and it comes in different sizes.Brilliant.

No fear

wisdom tooth stool.jpg

This chrome Wisdom Tooth Stool from grahamandgreen radiates pure modernist chic and is enough to relieve anyone of their fear of the dentist. The smooth ergonomic design provides far more comfortable seating than you would expect from what is essentially, a metal stool. It costs £62.50 and with something this smooth, sleek and quirky, its novelty is sure to be long lived.

Not recommended for those trying to quit the habit of eating naughty treats, but that just makes these lacquered cupcake pots all the more tantalising...£39 each from www.couverture.co.uk, they are definitely a must for any kitsch- loving domestic homemaker. The lightwood lacquered containers in pink and green are ideal for storing sweet treats, and making the kitchen look pretty is just the icing on the cake.

Circles Cushions

pier cushion.jpg

I presume you already knew that the Pier store was online? I have to confess that I'm not a big fan of the Indonesian/Mexican look, but they do have lots of little surprises. This Hessian embroidered circles cushion is not only eye-catching but also reduced from 15 to £12. Now I don't have to rummage through the store, I might be be purchasing more there.
