Hang up your coat... and find the bills!

portemanteau2.jpg

I love things that have a dual usage and this is a great example. It's a combination of a coat hanger and a place to put bills, magazines etc. The Portemanteau is simple in form and material, a raw wooden plank, of which one part is left blank It can be found on the lamaisondermarina site which contains no prices but lots of inspiration for your interior.

Video killed the radio star

r250_pastel_pink.jpg

Wow, can I have this milkshake pink Roberts Revival Radio in my kitchen now please. This is the R250 leatherette model, one of 14 different colours, which is 235w x 153h x 98d mm and costs £100. Yippie, it makes me want to wear bunches, blow bubbles and roll around on skates, for no reason at all (other than it's fun).

Bold Winter blankets & throws

designers guild.jpg

If you're thinking fabrics then your first stop has to be the Designers Guild . They're not afraid of colour, contrast or in-your-face bold designs. This Sarafan Peony throw costs £100, so not one for lovers of neutral colours or cheap bedding.

That's a nice doormat...

lauraashley doormat.jpg

A doormat is a doormat, it simply exists for us to wipe our feet on; not in the world of
Laura Ashley. With their beautiful decorative touch, they can make even a doormat look good, so that you find yourself thinking 'that's a nice doormat'! Its 43X73 CM, and is currently on sale for £15, even nicer.

Retro Sofas

retro sofa.jpg

If curvy 1930's sofas are your thing, then head to Broadway Market. Just go there anyhow, because they've got a great Farmers Market and the new outdoor heated lido has just opened. This Jean Renoir 3 seater was £1'195 and is now £795, the two seater was £995, now £595. So grab your olives and bread and head to Vintage Sofas.

Arty Rugs

natural collection rug.jpg

Despite Natural Collection's impeccable green and ethical credentials, I just don't like a lot of their home wares. I would however make an exception for these art inspired modern rugs. They're hand - stitched in Kashmir, by craftsmen and women who work from home. Each Circles Rug takes 3½ weeks to complete, is stitched by hand in a traditional Kashmiri chain-stitch and finished with cotton backing. That £170 /£250 rug would definately feel good underfoot.
